The 2019 Detroit Lakes Breakfast Rotary Committee would like to express our extreme gratitude for your support of this year’s Poles and Holes Ice Fishing Derby.

This year we not only faced some of the coldest temperatures we’ve ever experienced on derby day, but the tremendous amount of snow on the ice also proved to be a challenge.  But in spite of the weather, we had over 600 folks fishing with dozens more spectating.

This year our derby was rated as one of the top ten ice fishing contests in Minnesota by Outdoor News and that helped us to attract folks from Montana, North and South Dakota, Minnesota and even Kansas.  We also had a photographer here from the London Times to see just how folks from the upper mid-west embrace the cold and get out to fish!

Because of your support and participation we have now raised over $150,000 in funds to benefit worthy projects in the area as well as for impoverished nations overseas.  In addition, over our tournament’s history, we’ve given out over $285,000 in prizes to our participants.  We are humbled by the steady growth in popularity of this event.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

We hope that we can count on your support once again next year as we host the 10th Annual Poles and Holes Ice Fishing Derby on February 8, 2020.

Thanks again!
